CLEAR ABOUT HOW IT WORKS

Privacy notice.

Online Copy Paste shares temporary text between devices. This page explains the data the service uses and its limits.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

Text you choose to share

When you create a share, your browser sends the text and selected expiry setting to our server. The server keeps the text, a random share code, link token, deletion token, and expiry time in memory so another device can retrieve it. This version does not save clipboard contents in a database or file.

Anyone with the code or share link can retrieve the text. This is not end-to-end encrypted messaging: the server operator can access the text. Do not use the service for passwords, payment information, identity documents, or other sensitive material.

Expiry and deletion

You can select 10 minutes, 1 hour, or 24 hours. After expiry, the text cannot be retrieved. Expired records are cleared from server memory during requests or the regular cleanup, which runs every minute.

“Delete after reading” removes the server copy on the first successful retrieval. “Delete now” on the sending page removes it immediately. A server restart also clears every share. Copies that someone has received, downloaded, or put on a device’s clipboard are outside this service and are not removed.

No account or permanent sharing history is created. Keep a separate copy of anything you need later.

Network information

The application temporarily uses your IP address and request counts to limit repeated requests and reduce abuse. These records stay in server memory for a 10-minute rate-limit window and are removed by cleanup after that window ends.

The server and its hosting or network providers receive technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses and request details. This is separate from the temporary clipboard storage described above. No promise of anonymous use is made.

Share-link tokens are placed after the # in the link. The browser sends a token to the clipboard API when you choose to receive the text. Treat the complete link and share code as private access keys.

Your browser and clipboard

The site saves your chosen light or dark theme in your browser’s local storage. It does not store your shared text there. You can clear that preference through your browser’s site-data settings.

“Paste from clipboard” asks the browser for clipboard access after you click it. The site does not continuously read your clipboard. Copy buttons write the selected text or share details only when you use them. Browser permissions may affect whether these buttons work.

The clipboard application does not set cookies. A network provider may use its own security mechanisms when protecting the site.

Advertising and analytics

The clipboard page does not load advertising or analytics scripts. It does not send your pasted text to an advertising service.

The public homepage and guide have reserved advertising spaces. No advertising network is currently active in those spaces, and no AdSense advertising script is loaded. If advertising is enabled on informational pages, this notice will be updated to identify the provider, explain its data use, and describe any available consent choices.
